Reach Chattanooga Foundation Co. at (423) 226-5271 (calls are taken any time) or send the form below. The site covers Chattanooga and the nine surrounding communities in Tennessee and Georgia, and a local specialist calls you back to set a time. Many don't charge for the evaluation; ask when they call.
What to have ready
It speeds things up if you can say whether the house sits on a slope and which side is uphill, whether problems change after heavy rain, and whether you have a crawl space, a basement, or both. Photos help enormously: a wide shot of the affected wall, a close-up with something for scale beside the crack, and if you have one, a picture of the yard uphill of the house. None of it is required; a good specialist measures everything on site regardless.
If something is actively moving
A wall visibly pushed in, a horizontal crack that opened suddenly, a retaining wall rotating at its base or shedding block, or a floor that dropped noticeably in a short time deserves a phone call rather than a form. Say so when the specialist calls, and ask whether to stay clear of a particular area until it has been looked at.
Get a Chattanooga foundation evaluation
Tell us what the house is doing (stair-step cracks, a wall pushed in on the uphill side, water crossing the lot, sloping floors) and we'll pass it to one independent local specialist for an evaluation. You get a call back from a local specialist who serves Chattanooga.
